Diet will have much more of an effect on your weight than exercise will. (But exercise is good for you, so keep it up). Eat lots of low fat proteins like chicken, pork, and beans. Also eat lots of vegetables in salads or cooked veggies. Be conscious of portion size, and lay off the junk food. At your age, you’re growing very quickly, and the extra weight will fall off very quickly.
For some young men, a small weight gain will precede a growth spurt, so your body may be gearing up for you to grow again, so don’t sweat it all too much.
Learn good eating and exercise habits that will last you a lifetime.

Candy, cakes and other sweets are, of course, something you want to restrict when you’re on a diet; however, you do not want to eliminate them completely. If you completely eliminate sweets and treats, then you will find yourself craving them. This would not be good for your diet.
