BMI is a terrible number to follow. Pay attention to your body fat % if that is over 25% then you are obese.

In that case you need to make lifestyle changes. Eat less exercise more.

You have to eat well to maintain your strength and you can not do it by the calender. Every morning you must eat a good moderate breakfast. Breakfast skippers are always fat and obese. Oat meal or mush with fruit added or with it is a good choice. No fat or fried meat or other foods. Only whole grain cereals and bread, No sugar or corn syrup, sometimes called fructose, No juice or fruit drinks. Drink 8 oz of water before each meal. A piece of fruit is better for you than the same fruit juice. The fiber alone helps. Eat a big salad with out dressing or only a small amount of olive oil and lemon on it. Drink water before and between meals. For a mid after noon snack a whole piece of fruit and water. For dinner 6 0z piece of lean meat or fish broiled. Spinach or lettuce salad with small tomatoes, Skim milk and a 6 oz. bated or boiled potato. No butter or margarine. veggie broth or Mrs Dash to flavor. No desert other than fresh fruit. Do not ever binge, IT STRETCHES YOUR STOMACH.

Tips… exercise everyday it really does make you feel good and helps you stick to your diet because no one wants to ruin there run by eating a big bowl of ice crem after just running your as* of for an hour. you will be sore on occasion so the days you are sore just walk instead.. a good 45 minute walk around your neighborhood is still a great from of exercise. And about your diet.. eat healthy thats all it takes if your exercising.. dont eat past 3 hours before your going to bed. Dont eat anything with sugar in it. period added sugar is horrible and just gets turned into fat.. but sugars from fruits are ok because fruits have fibers and minerals that slow there absorbtion and prevent too much insulin from being produced. NO white grains. (any grains that arent whole) white bread.. pasta… rice… when your at the store just pick up all your grains in the whole form.. whole wheat bread brown rice whole grain pasta whole wheat tortillas etc.. eating white grains makes you fat because they are fiberless so there not filling and make you hungry and crave more an hour later because of your insulin levels going up and down all the time. so eat whole foods. fruits vegis. whole grains.. meat.fish. beans. nuts etc.. dont eat diet crap like 100calorie packs or low fat ice cream that sh*t is just chemicals and it makes you crave sugar and processed grains plus it has no nutrition its just plain vitaminless fattening sh*t. after about a week on this diet you dont even want to eat sugar or white bread.

common foods that you forget have sugars..
    yogurt-filled with sugar no no
    juice–only eat whole fruit
granola bars–if you want granola make a bowl of oatmeal and put fruit in it..
fruit snacks– there not fruit its just sugar and water and vitiamn c
craisins- they add sugar to them
jam or jelly- thats just fruit with a ton of added sugar
peanut butter— buy the kind that your have to stir with out the sugar.. like adams or just look at the label
ketchup- always has high fructose corn syrup in it.. unless you get the organic sugarless kind
BBQ sauce- buy the kind with no sugar or dont use it.
salad dressings– almost all have sugar in it so look carfully

dont count calories this can lead to unhealthy obsessions instead read ingredients and anything with sugar in it you cant eat and anything with unwhole grains you cant eat.. so make sure if any grains are in the ingredients they all say whole other words for sugar include
    Corn sweetener
Corn syrup, or corn syrup solids
    Dehydrated Cane Juice
    Dextrin
    Dextrose
    Fructose
    Fruit juice concentrate
    Glucose
    High-fructose corn syrup
    Honey
    Invert sugar
    Lactose
    Maltodextrin
    Malt syrup
    Maltose
    Maple syrup
    Molasses
    Raw sugar
    Rice Syrup
    Saccharose
    Sorghum or sorghum syrup
    Sucrose
    Syrup
    Treacle
    Turbinado Sugar
    Xylose.

ex, of a healthy one day diet
1 bowl of cheerios with 1/2 cup of milk or soy milk
    2 eggs

lunch-turkey sandwich on whole grain bread
1 piece of fruit or a container of applesauce
    a handful of nuts

    snack
    a banana ans some raisins.
    some carrots and some ranch.

    dinner
    salad
spaghetti and meat balls made with whole grain pasta
    or
chicken with brown rice and vegetables.

also tell your parents that your trying to be more healthy so they try to cook healthier at dinner time
also go to the grocery store with them so you can make sure you pick out healthy food. also there will be times when your house is full of junk food ignore it let your parents get fat you dont need it go make your self a bag of popcorn and walk around the block as you laugh at how fat there getting.

when your at your friends houses you can eat there dinner if its not healthy but that doesnt mean eat 3 slices of pizza it means eat one slice dont drink any soda drink water and just skip the junk food and candy and say your not hungry. and before going to your firends houses always make sure youve done your daily exercise so that will encourage you to not over eat at there houses. and at b-day parties skip the cake unless its your birthday then you can have a slice. theres no problem in saying im full and dont want any.

good luck!!! you should probably loss 3-6 pounds for the first couple of weeks and then it will slow down after a while and youll loss 1-3 every week

BMI is completely worthless. It doesn’t take in to consideration things such as age, gender, or muscle mass. Women, for example require much more bodyfat to live than men do. For women, going below 10% bodyfat percentage is extremely unhealthy, whereas men can go as low as 2%. You can see how gender is a very important factor in determining how much fat is healthy.

There is no such thing as an “ideal weight”. According to BMI my “ideal weight” is around 165, yet I weight over 200 lbs. Am I fat? No, not at all. I have only 8% bodyfat. The reason I weigh so much more than my “ideal weight” is because I have been lifting weights and gained a lot of muscle and strength. For a doctor to say I’m obese because my BMI is over 30 would be stupid. When your doctor says “ideal weight”, he really means “your ideal weight assuming you don’t grow any taller or gain any more muscle”.

Unless you’re an elderly person or have a muscular degeneration disease, the only thing you need to be worried about is your bodyfat percentage. The ADA (American Dietetic Association) recommends a bodyfat percentage of 18% or less for men, and 25% or less for women. At these percentages you will have very noticeable belly fat, but you won’t have any more risk of obesity related diseases than people who have lower bodyfat percentage. Up to 25% for men and 32% for women isn’t terrible either, but there is some increase risk for obesity related diseases. Beyond 25% for men and 32% for women come increasingly exponential risks for obesity related diseases the higher you go. These percentages are for an adult though, so they might be slightly different for teenagers, but not much different.

It’s hard to tell without a picture, but at 5’5″ 195 pounds, you’re probably around 35-40% bodyfat. That isn’t too bad, but you should obviously be working to lower that below 25% in the next 2-3 years. Just make sure you get some intense exercise 3-4 times a week, eat healthy, and get no less than 8 hours a sleep each night.
